PingToo specialises in two things: resolution of network problems... and avoiding them in the future.
Computer networks are complex. Even with a small number of "big name" suppliers, you will probably have some requirements that are "non standard". If not, your network will have become more complex as it has grown and new hardware and software have been incorporated. It is difficult to conduct realistic "clean room" simulations of proposed changes, so they usually just happen on the production network. The most innocuous changes can sometimes lead to subtle problems that can be very difficult to diagnose.
When this type of problem arises, you will ask your own specialists to investigate. On most occasions, they will identify the problem and resolve it successfully. Sometimes they will not be successful and the incident will be escalated - you can ask for assistance from the most relevant supplier. Often, they will identify the problem and recommend a solution. Sometimes, but not often, no-one will be successful. In our experience, your intractable, increasingly worrying problem will lie somewhere in the "no mans land" between two or more software and hardware interfaces. PingToo has a long track record of successfully resolving this kind of problem. We work with your specialists, and your suppliers to identify the root causes. We work with them to develop and implement the most effective solution for you.
Most of our clients start a relationship with PingToo when they encounter this type of network problem. Most existing clients ask us to advise on how to avoid this kind of problem when planning major changes, or when implementing new systems.
Brian Burch has worked as an independent network consultant for many years. He has successfully resolved problems with network techonologies too numerous to mention. In addition, he has successfully implemented enhancements to client systems that usually combine open source and proprietary technologies. These systems are typically designed with a projected life of 2 to 3 years... long enough for mainstream suppliers to develop commercial alternatives. These interim solutions usually save substantial expenditure by delivering the advantages of new technologies early. Often, the interim solution proves itself to be so effective that it remains in production for many more years than originally intended.
Brian Burch has been passionate about affordable good wine. for many years. He and his wife, Jane, established a vineyard in Dorset in 1984. He was the principle winemaker and also became a wine judge. He now writes a blog about finding good value wines.
